God Knows It's True

This is such a great song! I don't remember what the b-side sounds like at all, because the a-side is so catchy that I don't think I ever bothered to turn it over. And the worst thing is that I mocked this song so much when it first came out because it was so horribly, horribly catchy and I went through a period where any catchy pop song drove me to madness. But sometimes things are just good and you remember them and have to keep them in your life.

Well, for a little while at least. . .

What will I do with it?
Sell it here! Let someone else enjoy the song and maybe they can be bothered to listen to the other side.

Sebadoh / Azalia Snail 7"

And, oh, how I adore Sebadoh. I really think that their influence on current music is greatly ignored and under-valued. Like, I don't think Beck would have gotten as far as he did without Lou Barlow paving a tiny road for him. And same with Badly Drawn Boy. And maybe a few others. Of course, all this is debatable, and maybe I'd feel differently if I liked Beck or Badly Drawn Boy half as much as Sebadoh. But I don't! So, Sebadoh rules!

What will I do with it?
Sell it here! As I've said before, I don't have any kind of stereo system, so it's kind of silly to keep these things around when I don't even really have a place to store them and when they feel so much like frisbees in tiny toddler hands.

Perfidia

There's something about Darcy's style that's always entertained me. I love the rough delicateness of her work. It's kind of lop-sidedly ornate. I guess warped is a good word for it. Water-stained or something. It's beautiful in execution. And I think she'd like the words warped and execution in reviews of her work. She blends classically macabre story lines and motifs with modern-day morality. Does that sound right? Let's discuss.

Slash with a Knife

How cute! Nara's art is like a sassy little tot. It's angry elements are so much a part of its cuteness that you just want to pick his characters up and cuddle them. Little girls with knives! Little kids with fire! A teeny bit dangerous, but a teeny bit adorable too.

La La, Chu Tanney La!

This mini-comic is beautiful. In it, she has a dream about giving birth to kittens. While I was pregnant with my first child, I thought of this comic often and half-hoped that I would produce a kitten. And when I produced a human little boy, I hoped I wouldn't be so used to raising cats that I treated my own child the same; expecting him to jump off my lap when I needed to get up, or slapping my thigh and whistling when I wanted him to come to me.

It's all worked out well with the little boy, though, even if his first word was, "Me-ow."

This little mini-comic still amuses me, though. And her illustrations are so nice. And just look at that cover!

Rube Ruben Schmendrick Single

Boy, you can tell from the cover that this is quality stuff here! It's very funny stuff and this is the guy who played the tv comedian in Ghost World. So, these are his qualifications for the role. He IS that guy, except with better fashion sense and a really incredible back-up band.

Something Different

Oooooooh, another textbook from the past! Not my past, but someone's past. It's beautiful and full of great Dick and Jane style pictures. I love it.

Let's Make Mary

This great little book offers lots of advice for guys and most of it's terribly offensive. But that old drawing style is so appealing! Who can resist?

32 Stories

Early Tomine! His style's changed so much! Well, not that much. He's just gotten so much smoother with his art. But that's the great thing about this early stuff. It seemed so smooth at the time, but compared to how he's developed, it seems downright punk! So rough! But so well-done.

Happy Friends Coloring Book

I've had this wonderful coloring book since childhood. I've even colored some of the pages in it. You can tell the pages I colored and the pages my sister colored. I was pretty loose with my lines, but my sister was aggressively controlled with hers. She'd even outline the black lines of the picture to make sure the lines were apparent. It's no surprise to me then that she went into the military and I drifted off to a subtle hippy-dom.

What will I do with it?
Keep it. I might even make photo-copies of some of the really cute pages for my little boy to color in the future. Or maybe I'll find some good ones to use for personalized greeting cards.

Hey Diddle Diddle #1

A friend of mine bought this a long time ago because I like things that are so cute they're creepy. This is definitely one of the creepiest. Which is why. . .

What will I do with it?
Sell it here. It's too flimsy for my home. And it freaks everybody else out. (Ooh, I do love that kitty with the fiddle, though. So cute!)

Barber Shop Quartet

Oh, look at these fellows! Four singers and one guy to watch them. And check out those moustaches! My oh my! I love these guys, but. . .

What will I do with it?
It's time for us to part ways. I fear water damage or some other natural disaster if they stay with me. If you want them, you can buy them here.

Keane Girl Picture

This little gal was given to me years ago. It's traveled from coast to coast and still looks just as sweet.

What will I do with it?
Times change. Tastes change. And I don't want my little boys to think I wish that they were sad-eyed little girls. So I'm selling it here!

Organ Grinder Monkey

Oh, this great painting was discovered in a thrift store and I've kept it with me for years and years. But I'm a little afraid it might freak out my children, with the slight distortions in the faces and the little monkey on a leash.

What will I do with it?
Sell it here! It's lovely and innocent and yet strangely macabre!
